Games-OMG-Legend Of Zelda:Twilight Princess
Legend Of Zelda:Twilight Princess
Genre: Action/Adventure Platform: Wii ESRB:T Players:1
It’s been a while since I typed an OMG article. But, due to the present state of the economy, it seems like now is the best time to release an OMG article. Also, this OMG article is vastly different from the previous articles I wrote in past. Not only is this the very first OMG article for this year, but it’s the very first OMG article in which we’re recommending a Wii game! But, this is no mere Wii game. Today’s OMG game was a launch title for the Wii back in 2006. Of course, I’m talking about The Legend of Zelda:Twilight Princess.Twilight Princess story features a darker story like in Ocarina of Time. In fact, the game is set decades after Ocarina of Time, but decades before Wind Waker. In Twilight Princess, you play as Link (Legend of Zelda’s protagonist through out the series) who’s a farm boy in this version. Before he leaves his village to deliver a sword to Hyrule, his friends gets kidnapped by an Orge-like creature. Although he tries to rescue them, he gets sent into the Twilight Realm, a dark place filled with monstrous creatures and turns into a wolf. Even though hope appears to be lost, he is found by Midna, a resident of the Twilight Realm(a Twili, if you will) and promises to help you in your quest. In exchange, you have to help her stop Zant, the “King” of the Twilight realm by assembling the Fused Shadows. Thus, Link and Midna start their quest to save Hyrule and stop Zant from spreading his evil darkness throughout Hyrule. But, is Zant the true foe in the game or is it someone much more sinister?Although the story is like any typical Zelda game (e.g. princess in trouble, save Hyrule, defeat Ganon, Ganondorf, or whatever he wants to be called in the game), the game has its share of plot twists. It will typically take you 40 hours to beat this game and that’s not including the side missions!
Twilight Princess was one of the Wii’s launch titles, so you’ll expect the game to use the Wii sensing capabilities. Using long range items like the Bow and Arrow, Boomerang, and others items is incredibly fun thanks to the Wii remote. For example, when I used the Bow and Arrow for the first time in the game, I felt like Legolas from the Lord of the Ring films. But of course, using these items is not as fun as using the sword! Using the Wii remote to control your sword in the game is a blast and never gets old! The best part is that there are six hidden sword moves you can learn throughout the game. Although, I have seen some of his moves from his guest appearance in Soul Calibur 2, they’re needed to make Link more cooler. However, you will never play as a human throughout the whole game. Sometimes, you’ll need to unleash your inner beast. In Twilight Princess, Link will often turn into a wolf to solve hidden puzzles, items, and enemies. Later on in the game, you can switch between human and wolf form on the fly to solve even more complex puzzles and find more hidden enemies. But, you know what feature in Ocarina of Time made a triumphant return in Twilight Princess? Horse Back riding! However, unlike Ocarina of Time, you can fight while riding on your horse in this version! Fighting while riding on your horse is incredibly fun and addictive. Finally, the game is never repetitive. Sure, the game has the dungeons, weapons, and enemies from past Zelda games, but there are so many things to do in the game! You can fish, ride on a hawk, snowboard, collect bugs, gather goats, swim, and other fun things as well.
I highly recommend picking up Twilight Princess if you just brought the Wii. Sure, it may not be as “epic” as die hard Zelda fans want it to be, but the game is still considered a masterpiece and a won multiple Game of the Year awards in 2006. It’s no wonder why this gaming series is considered to be “legendary.”
