Fallout 3 should be released today. However, some people are waiting impatiently for Fallout 4. Normally, when the public asks a game developer “When will the next sequel be released?”, the game developer will often say “When it’s ready”. But, that’s not the case for Bethesda. Bethesda gave gamers an answer to the release date of Fallout 4…despite the fact that it wasn’t pretty.
Bethesda’s PR man, Pete Hines, told Edge.com that Fallout 4 will come out by…2018! Hines said “An accurate headline would probably be, ‘Fallout 4 before 2018,’” in response to Edge.com’s headline. Bethesda’s Executive Producer, Todd Howard later commented by saying that “Ten years between ‘Fallout’ is a bit long, but I think there’s this nostalgia factor.”
But, Gamespot is reporting that the 2018 release date is just a joke about how long it took Fallout 3 to be released. “He wasn’t trying to say anything about how long it will be between the Fallout 3 and the next one,” said a Bethesda Softworks representative. “Rather, it was a comment about the fact that 10 years was too long between the last Fallout games and Fallout 3. We aren’t setting any kind of timeframe or timetable for the next Fallout. We haven’t even released this one yet, though at least we’re now very, very close.”
