Right now, Microsoft made the biggest impression to me at E3 2008. But, you got to remember that Microsoft released very few games thus far this year,so they need to show the 360 fans some of the goodies coming out latter this year (that, or they’re simply waiting for Gears of War 2 to come out). Let see what games were announced at E3 2008 for the X-Box 360 (no we’re not listing Resident Evil 5, Final Fantasy 13 or Fallout 3 in this category. They’re multi-plateform games, and need to be treated so).

Gears of War 2

Genre: 3rd Person Shooter Plateform: X-Box 360 Players:1-2(10 on X-Box Live) ESRB:TBA Price: TBA Release Date; November 2008

Grab your chainsaw, practice your curb stomp routine, and prepare to cuss like a sailor; Gears of War 2 is almost here! The story of Gears Of War 2 will take place right after Gears of War 1. The locust manage to reach Jericho, so the last remaining humans decides to take the fight back to them. Epic games promises that the story will be better than its predecessor. The game will feature a host of new features that will make any Gears of War fans jump for joy. The meat shield is defiantly the most talked about feature thus far. Instead of getting hit by multiple bullets, you can now grab a downed enemy, and use him as a human- sorry, locust-shield. Also, the game will have chainsaw battles! If you remembered from Gears of War 1, if both you and your opponent chainsaw each other, then the game often gave the kill to a random person. In Gears of War 2, if you and your opponent chainsaw each other at the same time, you will engage in chainsaw mini game. If you win this mini game, then you’ll be treated with an oh so sweet kill. Let’s not forget about the multi-player mode of the game. Although 5 player teams, and a new lobby system are welcome changes, the main thing that has me absolutely ecstatic about the game is horde mode (e.g last man standing mode!). In other words, 10 people, fighting an endless wave of locust until the last man is standing. Now that’s hardcore!

Castle Crashers

Genre: Action RPG Plateform: X-Box 360 Players:1(4 on X-Box Live) ESRB:T Price: TBA Release Date; TBA

Although I’m not particular fond of X-Box Live Arcade games, Castle Crashers is becoming one of my most highly anticipated XBLA game thus far. The game storyline is still under wraps, but expect a princess in need of rescuing, and an evil wizard in need of smiting. The game is an Action RPG, which experience is based on the number of times you actually hit the enemy, and experience points can be used for increasing strength, magic, defense, and agility. The animations are nice, and the jokes in the game are hilarious! Sadly, the release date for the game is still under wraps. BTW, did you know the game is being created by the same people behind Alien Hominand? Well, now you know!
Fable 2

Genre: RPG Plateform: X-Box 360 Players:1(2 on X-Box Live) ESRB:TBA Price: TBA Release Date; October 2008

I have absolutely no clue on how long I’ve been waiting for this game (I guess ever since last year). Fable 2 is set in a more industrial age setting than its predecessor’s medieval setting. Although the graphics haven’t improved, the game made some serious innovations. For one thing, the game’s controls has been retooled. Everything in the game will be more context sensitive. For example, you you hold down the X button, then you do a area based magic attack, but if you flick the control stick at an enemy while pressing the X button, then you can perform projectile attacks. With the inclusion of a more dynamic environment, a dog mechanic, guns, and online Coop, Fable 2 might be considered the best RPG of the year (if Final Fantasy 13 doesn’t come out by then), if Lionhead manage to not mess it up. Of course, this is from a Fable fanboy view.

[Added: July 17th,2008 ]Naruto: The Broken Bond

Although there’s a Naruto game coming out for the PS3, the sequel to the critically acclaimed X-Box 360 Naruto game (Naruto: Rise Of A Ninja) is coming out. The story will pick up when the evil Orochimaru and his clan of ninjas from the village of Sound attacks Konoha Village. Naruto: Broken Bond story will will go all the way into the Sasuke retrieval arc. Instead of controlling Naruto in this game, you will be controlling a ninja squad if you will. The squad will consist of Naruto, the stern-looking Neji Hyuga, and pessimistic Shikamaru. You will be able to switch between these characters with the introduction of the character switching mechanic. The Broken Bond will also feature an online 2v2 battle mode, as well as a tournament mode, which isn’t in the Naruto; Ultimate Ninja Storm.

Stay tuned as this article will be updated whenever we see a cool X-Box game to talk about.BTW, make sure you subscribe to our RSS feed or to our twitter page to stay informed.
