Yesterday, I covered Microsoft’s press conference at E3 2008. It was a hefty list of cool stuff from Microsoft (when I typed it out, it took up three pages!). Now onto Nintendo, which has to be the most disappointing press conference I’ve seen from the three. Nintendo’s press conference lasted for about an hour!
Wii Motion Plus-The next incarnation of Wii motion controllers is almost here. The Wii motion plus is a new type of Wii controllers that is more more precise than its brother. The game they used to demonstrate this is the new Wii Sports: Resort game, which obviously takes place in a resort. The mini games shown at the event was Frisbee throwing, water ski-ing and sword play (the sword play mode showed the first player cutting various objects. The second mode showed two players duking it out).The new Wii Sports Resort game won’t come put until Spring next year.
Wii Music- The next form of Wii game is Wii Music. Wii music is unlike the typical rhythm based game. Instead of pressing a button to match on screen prompts, you simply move the your body to match the on screen prompts. Shigeru Miyamoto mentioned that “It’s about bringing the joy of playing music to people who can’t play instruments”. You’ll also be able to record in game footage and share it with your friends. Shigeru Mymoto and three other people demonstrated how the game works.
New Mario And Zelda-During the Nintendo press conference, Satoru Iwata announced that brand new Mario and Zelda games are in development. However, there were no more details after that.
Wii Speak-Finally! You can finally speak to your friends online with the new Wii speak. Sadly, it’s not a headset like Microsoft’s or Sony’s headset. Instead, it sits on top of the TV and lets everyone in the room communicate with each other. The current game announced for the new peripheral is a new Animal Crossing game called Animal Crossing: City Folk. In this version of the popular game you can finally visit a city. There’s an auction site where you can buy items for sale, and put up your own items for sale. There’s an academy where you can find out what other players are doing. You can visit a fashion designer. Or a beauty salon, where you can “put on a mask and look like your Mii
Anonymous New Wii Games-New games announced for the Wii is Star Wars: Clone Wars, Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party (which uses the balance board and wii remote to play mini games), and Guitar Hero On Tour Decades, which you’re able to share all those songs with another player, even if they have a different version of the game,
Anonymous New DS Games- New DS games for the Nintendo DS system includes Spore (which will allow you to share monsters online like the PC version),Pokemon Ranger (which will come out this November in the US), and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (set in modern liberty city) which will come out this December.
Our Verdict-Very,very,very,very disappointing. What happen to the new games that are rumor to come out? Where’s the new F-Zero game? Where’s the Kid Icuas game? Sure, Wii Music and Wiispeak were really cool, but what about the games? Think about the games!
