If you haven’t notice yet, it’s the summer. You know what that means? The typical summer drought has occurred. The summer drought is a period when a lack new console or PC games come out. However, there’s always a plan b, you could play free flash games. Flash games are usually free internet games that only requires an Adobe Flash player. Hey! You mind as well save now before Soul Calibur 4 comes out! Here are a list of free flash games to try out. Some of the games can be found by visit Newgrounds.com.

Portal:Flash Version-How can I not mention this? This is probably one of the best Flash game adaptation of the popular Orange Box game. In this game, you still play as chell, you still have the portal gun, and you’re still bossed around by the malevolent robot, Glados. Oh yeah! And you’re still looking for a slice of cake. So what’s so different about the game that will make you want to try it? The flash game has over 40 challenges (that’s about 21 more than the original one)that will keep you occupy for months! In fact, when I played the flash game, I was only able to finish 10 levels of the game! I better start now before my summer is over!

Totem Destroyer- When you think “physics”, you usual think of games like BLACK, Unreal Tournament 3, Fracture, etc. However, it doesn’t mean it can’t be applied to a flash game. Totem Destroyer is the perfect example of Flash based physics. The purpose of the game is to destroy a select amount of blocks, while keeping your totem intact. The game contains more than 30 levels of thought intensive puzzles that can take days to complete. Trust me, I’m on my 4th day.

Castle Crashing The Beard- Castle Crashers is still under development by legendary flash guru, Tom Fulp. The game is so highly anticipated, that someone from the newgrounds community decided to make a small flash game based on the Castle Crashers characters. They also decided to make fun of the fact that Tom hasn’t shaved his beard since he started to work on the game. Anyway, the game is very,very,very,very challenging at first, but once you start to analyze his patterns, then the combat starts to get significantly easier. Although the game isn’t as long as any of the games on my list, it’s still worth a try.

Astroflyer-This flash game is by far the most beautiful looking flash game in this list. This is a 3d flash that was uploaded by GameReclaim of the Newgrounds.com community. Can you believe that it was his first time as well? This is a simple flying game; avoid obstacles and collect stars. But, the game truly stands out because of its excellent graphics and awesome soundtrack. In fact, I think of the game as the Lumines of flash shooting games.

Stride:Spit It Out Adventure-Normally, I would avoid games about big company like Stride, but when Stride Inc. asked me to try out their simple flash game, I decided to give it a whirl. It turns out that the game is (I’m biting my lips when I’m saying this)…good. If you see the commercials, then you’ll know that the purpose of the game is to make customers spit out their gum. What’s pretty cool about the flash game is the fact that the game is context sensitive (e.g God of War) as you try to make unlucky customers spit out their gum. Overall, if you’re dead bored, it’s worth giving the game a try.

Yes, I know flash games aren’t talked about in Pariah’s Guild, but due to the gaming drought, you mind as well make due.
