Last week, a map of the week article was not published because I took a siesta from the blog. Anyway, I’m back, and have a cool Portal Map for you this week. Introducing, Electric Castle (lol!).

So what type of map I have for you this week? Unlike the maps I covered in the past, this one gives you one goal; “Rescue the Companion Cube!”.

Hey! It’s about time. The Companion Cube is the second most popular character in Portal-besides Glados and the Cake. If you start to see Companion Cube merchandise, then you’ll know for sure that the “character” is popular. In this map, the main objective is to solve a series of puzzles in order to save the companion cube from a doomed fate. This map contains a wake up cinematic, 3 test chambers, a central area incorporating the last puzzle, and a medium sized BTS area.

The map defiantly remains true in keeping the Aperture labs scenery and texturing, but uses two new portal fizzlers, and a new fizzler mechanism in room 3. Although the map is medium in size, it focuses various levels that are defiant brain teasers.

To be honest, there’s only one reason why I recommended this map for map of the week. Most of the maps I recommended were difficult to solve. Heck, one of the maps I recommended had over 40+ levels! So, this week, I was looking for a map that’s perfect for people who wanted a little bit of a challenge, but they didn’t want to be stumped at the same time.

However, here’s one thing to keep in mind when you actual start playing with the map. Multiple people are complaining that *spoiler* they tried to make a portal to rescue the Companion Cube in the end, but there’s some sort of glitch that prevents it. Other than that, this map is golden.

Because of the map’s size, clever puzzles, and “story”, that’s why I named it this week’s map of the week. However, in order to have a clear understanding for what to expect from the map, please watch this video we made for Youtube.
