Blue Ray is here; HD-DVD is dead. Get over it. However, many X-Box 360 fans who bought an HD-DVD drive for their 360 feel ripped off. At least Microsoft could release a Blue Ray drive for the X-Box 360, right? No! In fact Microsoft stands firm on their anti-Blue Ray policy. They even released a press release about their stance on no Blue Ray for the X-Box 360.
“As we have stated, we have no plans to introduce a Blu-ray drive for Xbox 360…Games are what drive consumers to purchase game consoles, and we remain focused on providing the largest library of blockbuster games available.”
However, many people stand firm on their belief that a Blue Ray drive will be release for the X-Box 360. Why? Because Pegatron Technology, an OEM subsidiary of Asustek Computer, has secured orders from Microsoft to assemble Xbox 360 consoles equipped with a Blu-ray Disc (BD)-ROM drive, with shipments to begin in the third quarter of 2008, according to the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) newspaper.
