Grid is the upcoming sequel to last year’s very dirty racing game, Dirt. Grid will feature an improved physics, graphics, and controls and will be released for PS3 and X-Box 360. But, you know the one thing that will make the game so “revolutionary” from other racing games? Two words; eBay marketplace.
Codemasters announced that they will include an Ebay Marketplace for the upcoming game. One thing that the eBay market will feature is the ability for players to buy and sell in-game vehicles in a “realistic setting.”. That’s it, right? Wrong! The eBay love doesn’t stop there! There will be a race event sponsored by the auction house called “The eBay Motor Muscle Series,”. The race will allow players to race eBay’s Motors Mustang GTR concept car in downtown San Francisco, Long Beach, Washington D.C. and Detroit.
Although many people see it as “an opportunity for eBay to do in-game advertisements”, Codemasters is calling the feature an “essential element”, and “a revolving plot point”. You know what I call it? In game advertising!
