Before you ask yourself, “Who the heck is Gore Verbinski?” I’m going to tell you this. Gore Verbinski is the director of the popular Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. He worked on other movies like The Weather Man and The Ring, but let’s face it, you’ll probably care more about Pirates of the Caribbean. Anyway, it turns out that he’s an avid gamer since the days of Pong. In fact, he loves video games so much, that he wants to take a stab at the market.

Verbinski is developing a “secret project” that would let him apply his ideas to the video gaming biz. However, details about this secret upcoming game are very minimal. But, during an interview with the Los Angelo’s Times, he made the following comment when asked, “What can you tell us about this project”…

“It’s a little bit out there. Although I really enjoy “Halo” and “BioShock,” I’m not interested in jumping in to compete with those guys. I want to come in from a completely different direction. I’ve had a tremendous experience in the film industry, taking knocks and figuring out how to navigate that world. Before I assume I know how to navigate this one, I want to observe.”

Verbinski is another example of famous movie directors entering the video game biz. Steven Spielberg is releasing Boom Blox which will be released this year, while George Lucas is releasing Star Wars: Force Unleashed , which will also be out this year.
