Last Sunday, I decided to buy the Orange Box for my PC because the X-Box 360 version of the game broke down on me. I realized one undeniable fact when I decided to play one of my favorite puzzle games, Portal, on the PC; I’m able to download awesome bonus maps unavailable to the X-Box 360 version of the game! Here’s my guide on how to install custom maps in the PC version of Portal.

1)Visit your favorite Portal Maps Website. There’s tons of websites out there where you can download extra Portal Maps. I decided to download the popular Station 1 map from Portalgamemaps.com, since it’s one of the most popular Portal map sites around this time.

2) Click the download link. There’s no extra steps for this, just click the download link.

3) Specify the file designation- Save the zip folder to the following folder
C:Programs/Steam/Steamapps/Portal/Portal/Maps.
4) Once the folder has been saved to the specified folder, extract the files to the same directory listed in Step 3. I used Windows extract files feature instead of using the popular extractor program, Winrar.

5) Okay, now go to Steam and run Portal.

6)When you get to the main menu, select Bonus Maps. Select the “import map” feature and go to the folder that has your map, in this case “Station 1”. Explore though the folder until you see the file with the screenshot of the desired map.

7) Load the map and enjoy Portal! Now go out there and find that cake with your friend, the companion cube!

Doesn’t work, when I run Portal the game doesn’t recognize the fucking levels. Asks for bmz extension files.
